Tricks Summer Recital 2010

Carlin has been in a jazz/tap/ballet class at Tricks since September of 2009. She had a nutcracker recital a few months after she started and now a summer recital. The theme was broadway musicals. Her class did Welcome to the 60's from Hairspray. They did a great job! Sorry I can't show you the video. It is too big of a file for the blog, but here are some pics of her and her friends who were in the dance with her.

Business Trip to San Antonio, Texas

Warren had a conference in San Antonio for the business he works for. I took the opportunity to tag along with him. My sister watched the girls for me and Matt stayed at the neighbors since he needed to be at summerschool early each morning. We hopped on a plane and left the kids in good hands.

This is the resort we stayed at.

We had several guest speakers, including George W. Bush. Just kidding! It was an impersonator. He had us fooled for a minute.

Warren and I outside the ballroom before going in to the awards banquet.

Warren and I trying to look tough in our Mr. Rooter sunglasses that were given to us.

We went to the river walk and this stuffed lion was outside one of the many shops.

This giant oak was inside the Alamo.

Warren and I found the San Antonio temple.

Warren and I met up with Dee Gardner, a friend from high school, and he showed us around San Antonio. This is an unusual restaurant. You would probably never find a restaurant like this in California. California and its building codes!

Me and Dee posing with our Macho burgers from Chris Madrids. I split mine with Warren. They were huge!

Warren and Dee posing outside of Chris Madrids. Warren just bought these boots. Yes, I made him take them off after the picture. Serious fashion faux pas! People were honking and yelling while we were taking this pic!!

Rafting with the Barnes Family

The Barnes invited us to go rafting down the American River with them. We of course did not turn them down. We packed a lunch and some snacks and started on our adventure. We had a great time. The weather was good. It only reached 78 that day, but by the end we were all ready to get wet. Thank you Doug and Brook!!

Marc, Jan and Kids Come To Cali to Visit

My brother Marc and his family came out to California to visit before heading off to a couple of family reunions. He lives out in St. Louis. His family drove out here earlier in the month and then he flew in to meet them here in Sactown. We got to visit for a couple of days before they had to leave. We haven't seen the whole family together for a couple of years so it was fun to see them all here. It was great just sitting around and catching up while the kids played. Don't stay away so long in between visits!! Love ya guys!!

Ward Luau

To start the summer, the ward had a luau. They fed us some good food and then the YM, YW, and the Relief Society each did a different hawaiian dance. Then they had a Polynesian band sing several songs for us. They also had some polynesian dancers come and dance for us too. At the end, they tried to teach us a dance too. It was a really well planned out activity. Thank you activities committee for doing such a wonderful job.

The YW dance. Miranda is in the yellow dress in front. Kylie is in the bright blue shirt in the middle.

The YM dance. Matt is in the white on the right side. He is stiff because of a road rash he got on his arm and shoulder. Ouch!!

First Day of Summer Vacation

The first day of Summer vacation is in the books. We started out our day with the typical Saturday chores around the house. Then we went to my sister Pam's house for a bbq and swim party. Here are some pics of the kids relaxing and playing in the pool. Fun day!!

Last Day of School

All the kids had their last day of school on Friday. The year went by so fast. After school, Miranda went to lunch with a friend, I got Subway for Kylie and then Carlin and I went to lunch at McDonalds with her friends. Matt went riding with his friends. That night, Carlin had a friend sleep over and Kylie had a seminary party to go too. So it was a busy day. Here are some pics of Carlin's year at school. I don't have any of the other kids. They think they are too cool to have their mom around anymore!

Carlin on picture day.

Group pic of all the kids playing on the playground before school. We managed to get them to all hold still for this pic.

Primary Worker Appreciation bbq/swim party

I am in the primary presidency in my ward. As a primary presidency, we decided we needed to do something for the people who work in primary. We came up with a bbq/swim party. The presidency provided the meat and everyone else brought a side dish or dessert. I think everyone had a great time. We will have to do it again. Here are some pics of the event.
